What is scanning?

Scanning an asteroid is the action which uncovers bonuses and resource abundances for an asteroid that you own.  With the exception of Adalia Prime (Asteroid #1), you must first scan an asteroid before you will be permitted to begin core sampling and mining that asteroid.

Requirements/Prerequisites

• Ownership of the asteroid
• Testnet ETH (aka GoETH) (it’s free) in your account to complete the action

How to Scan an Asteroid

• SELECT: Navigate to the “Assets” tab at the bottom of the page and select “Asteroids”From the right side panel, select the owned asteroid that you would like to scan.
• SCAN: Click the green “Scan Asteroid” button on the bottom right, or navigate to the asteroid details panel and click the composition tab to see the “Start Scan” button.
  • CONFIRM / ACCEPT: Your testnet wallet (Cartridge / Argent X / Braavos) should prompt you to confirm/accept this transaction in the top right corner of your screen. You MUST do this to complete this action.
• FINALIZE: Navigate to the asteroid again and go to the composition tab within details and click “Finalize”. Once this is completed you will have uncovered bonuses and resource abundances.
  • CONFIRM / ACCEPT: Your testnet wallet (Cartridge / Argent X / Braavos) should prompt you to confirm/accept this transaction in the top right corner of your screen. You MUST do this to complete this action.

<aside> 💡 NOTE: Any “CONFIRM/ACCEPT” action above will not be required if using Session Keys. However, when completing actions in-game without a Session Key it will require a second verification step within your given account (Cartridge, ArgentX, or Braavos). We will soon launch “Session Keys” which will make this second approval no longer required. We will provide a quick starter guide to enabling them once they are live.
